People’s Attitude Towards Abortion in Australia

People’s mentality towards fetus removal in Australia Abstract: The speculation, â€Å"It is obvious that in Australia individuals are not strong of premature birth. † would be tried in the report. Its point was to uncover the present perspectives on individuals in Australia towards premature birth, in light of the current situation of various age and social foundation. A survey about supported reasons, sanctioning and values on premature birth was built and the objective gathering would be 20 worldwide understudies and 20 nearby Australians. The worldwide understudies were for the most part Chinese, and a couple from South-East Asia. In spite of the fact that most members didn't have an extremely solid position of supporting premature birth or not, when there were further inquiries concerning Pro-decision conduct and authorization of fetus removal, it was found that members were very regard of opportunity of decision, and concurred that fetus removal ought to be legitimized. In this way one might say that contrasting the 2 sides, members were fairly strong to premature birth. In light of the outcomes, broadened inquires about covering a bigger objective gathering which could for the most part speak to various social gatherings could be directed to test whether fetus removal was actually commonly satisfactory or not or would it be able to be sanctioned under all cases. Presentation Abortion had been a questionable issue for a long time, conversations and discussions were constantly held to contend whether it ought to or ought not be pronounced legitimate. This issue was significant at record-breaking in light of the fact that the disposition towards it were for the most part affected by different significant estimations of life like profound quality, human rights and opportunity of decision, including that they were the key variables to decide if it ought to be proclaimed lawful. â€Å"Abortion can be characterized as the ejection or expulsion of an undeveloped organism or baby from the uterus of the pregnant mother† (Blade, 2008). It could be partitioned into two sorts. To begin with, the â€Å"spontaneous abortion† happens when the mother’s body launches the hatchling because of various reasons, generally normal ones (without human exertion). This report concentrated on another kind of fetus removal, â€Å"induced abortion†. This was what individuals generally mean when they utilize the word premature birth. As it were, it was the â€Å"termination of pregnancy†. After the Federation in 1901, premature birth was dealt with by the British Offenses Against the Person Act of 1861. In the demonstration, premature birth was unlawful , regardless of under what conditions. Be that as it may, from that point forward, premature birth would be lawful at times under the law. For example, Natasha,(1998), proposed that under the McGuire administering (1986) in Queensland, fetus removal must be authorized when the mother was in danger that premature birth could save her life or wellbeing. Another case that fetus removal could be sanctioned was that if the infant would bite the dust promptly or inside a brief period. For the present enactment about it in Queensland under the Queensland Criminal Code, the perspective stayed comparable that the court would deny premature birth except if the moms life or wellbeing is at serious risk. However, it didn't uncover any reaction on the difference in mentalities of individuals towards premature birth. The point of the report was to uncover the present perspectives on individuals in Australia towards fetus removal, considering the present situation of various age and social background(international understudies versus neighborhood Australians). It created the impression that these days an ever increasing number of individuals were strong to premature birth. This view would be upheld by the outcomes from study and afterward a conversation some portion of it would be incorporated and finally the end and proposal would be detailed. Technique: Questionnaires about the mentalities of premature birth of individuals were utilized to gather information for the report. A subjective strategy was utilized. The purpose behind picking it was on the grounds that the report concentrated more on profundity, as opposed to amount. As indicated by the Family Health International (2005), a subjective research gave data about the â€Å"human† side of an issue, which was frequently conflicting. It could likewise decipher the unpredictable reality or make a superior comprehension to a particular circumstance and the ramifications of the subjective information. Another significant point was that it could help distinguish immaterial elements (age, sexual orientation, nationality, religion, and so on) in the report. These components were the keys that impact a person’s demeanor toward the issue. The accentuation of the survey was to comprehend participant’s viewpoints possibly in support of premature birth, along these lines 10 out of 14 inquiries were about their feeling, the rest were 3 quality inquiries and 1 information question. The complete number of members was 40. There were out and out 20 global understudies concentrating in Australia and 20 neighborhood Australians finished the survey. Among the members, 23 of them were female and 17 were male. In the understudy gathering, 2 of them were under or underneath 18 and 18 were at 19 years old to 30. Among the neighborhood Australians, 6 of them were between 31-45 and another 14 were 45 or above. A point to note was that for the global understudies, 15 of them were Chinese. To ensure the data would be left well enough alone, no inquiries were about personality or other private data. The surveys were given out in two different ways. The principal path was to disseminate them at school and at homes, and another route was to circulate them through the web. Members were very intrigued to the survey as they believed that it was a dubious issue. Anyway simultaneously, members discovered mistook for the last open-cut off inquiry concerning the association between culture, age and premature birth as it was not required to state reasons yet lines were given. The following would be â€Å"unready for res ponsibility† (35%), â€Å"unwanted babies† (32. 5%), â€Å"mother has wellbeing problems† (30%), â€Å"problem for relationship or needs to dodge single parenthood† (22. 5%), â€Å"psychological reasons† (12. %) and the least supported explanation would be â€Å"has as of now kids she needed or all youngsters are grown† (10%). For another class, authorization of premature birth, there was an open-finished inquiry posing to the members around one advantages and disadvantages of fetus removal. For the professionals, there were a few primary thoughts. To start with, individuals imagined that after legitimization of fetus removal, dangers could be diminished as individuals no longer discover specialists with no permit to prematurely end. Also, it would a regard to opportunity of selection of individuals. Thirdly, there would be less kids experienced childhood in an insecure domain. For the cons, individuals likewise got comparative thoughts, for example, premature birth was against the regard of life, I. e. executing blameless life. Additionally, individuals could be increasingly flighty as they could prematurely end lawfully. For the last class, perspectives and qualities towards fetus removal, 6 inquiries were raised. Dominant parts accepted that fetus removal was turning out to be regular these days (25% firmly concur, half concur). For the inquiry concerning whether the people’s sees towards fetus removal was changing, greater piece of them concur with the announcement (20%strongly concur, 40% concur) purchase a lot of individuals looked after unbiased (32. %). For the inquiry â€Å" it is barbaric and ought to be banned†, the 2 sides were nearly adjusted (5% unequivocally concur, 32. 5% concur versus 7. 5%strongly differ and 37. 5% deviate), around 17. 5% individuals decided to be unbiased. In the subject of opportunity of decision, it was ve ry uneven that it ought to be exceptionally regarded (40% for both unequivocally concur or concur, signifying 80%). Inquiring as to whether it was worthy in all cases, contradiction (20% emphatically dissent, 42. 5% dissent) was more than understanding (32. 5% concur). However, a considerable amount of individuals felt that they would have various perspectives upon premature birth in various cases (35% unequivocally concur, 32. 5% concur). For the last open-cut off inquiry concerning the association between age, culture and perspectives towards fetus removal, the fundamental thoughts of the members were that matured individuals, I. e. age gathering of 45 or above, would be progressively traditionalist and along these lines have a negative view upon fetus removal. In addition, they felt that individuals with various culture, especially â€Å"westerners† in the Chinese’s eyes, would be progressively open and acknowledge the possibility of premature birth. Today, people can listen to music while driving, exercising, studying, or working. Much of our current understanding of music-genre preferences comes from Rentfrow Gosling’s (2003) study: The Five Factor Model. In the study, they started a series of 6 studies, examining people’s lay beliefs about music, the underlying music preferences and the links between music preferences and personality. In Willy’s clouded eyes he is still able to sell as well as he did when he was young. When questioned by his wife Linda on the amount of money he made on his trip, he even coldly places the blame of his unsuccessfulness on the fact that â€Å"three of the stores were half closed for inventory in Boston† (35). He is not able to face the facts; Loman’s methods for selling are greatly outdated. Willy is no longer known in any town he enters because he has outlived most of his former customers. Only seven of America's 50 states had as many as 30 high schools offering bowling as an extracurricular activity. Bowling has nearly 500,000 young people participating in Young American Bowling Alliance leagues and tournaments. They know and love bowling, and most of them are denied the opportunity to experience the thrill and excitement of bowling for a letter for their high school teams. American Sports Data states interest in bowling is at an all-time high among young people, with a 15% increase in interest among pre-teens and 17% growth in interest among high schoolers. Free Essays on Celebrity Vs. Religion

Has Celebrity Replaced Religion in Society? Religion has been around forever. It was formed to explain the unexplainable, and lasted through countless revolutions and discoveries, giving the people who followed the support needed to go about each day. Recently, people who attain celebrity status can gain quite a big following. These groups of people will often look up to, and possibly idolize or worship the celebrities, seeing them as above the regular human being. This has, in turn, prompted the debate of whether celebrity has replaced religion in society. To this, I feel it has not. The first thing that comes to my mind when I think of this question is the amount of people that follow a specific religion. I usually think of Christianity because of its widespread belief and popularity. The number of people who worship celebrities is far less than the people who attend church on Sunday’s, and when other religions are considered, the ratio is practically laughable. Granted, the ratio is becoming less and less desirable, but the fact is that religion is still alive and strong. Another reason I feel that religion hasn’t been replaced by celebrity is the reasoning that people looking up to celebrities or other people in any sort of spotlight can not only be good, but help aid in there everyday lives. Plenty of famous people live good, quality lives following good morals, and looking up to them can offer guidelines to help live a good life. On the flip side, looking at celebrities can offer a way not to live your life. For example, because they are in the spotlight all the time, you can analyze their mistakes, and see that if you were to avoid similar mistakes, then you could avoid many potential problems. The last reason I feel that celebrity has not replaced religion is that many celebrities are very religious. Violence on Television Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Violence on Television - Essay Example There is no doubt that television has its good side. It can be both entertaining as well as educational. It gives good opportunity for children to learn more about different cultures, and gain exposure to ideas they may never encounter in their own community.Besides, it also gives them a chance to see different places and learn about various aspects on life in different parts of the world. In addition, there are also several motivational programs with positive role models and good moral stories that can influence kids to change their behavior for the better (UMHS n. pag, 2007). However, the concern today is the impact of violence that is projected in the television. Ever since the beginning of television, the effect of TV violence on society has been commonly studied and strongly debated. There are several studies that provide evidence that violence in television can be linked to the real life violence. For instance, a study conducted by four universities and financed by the cable industry found that of nearly 2,700 shows analyzed in a 20 week survey of 23 channels, 57% were said to contain at least some violence (Zoglin 58-61). [1] One of the biggest concerns is the negative effect of television on children. Researchers hypothesize that viewing TV violence can lead to three potentially harmful effects: increased antisocial or aggressive behavior, desensitization to violence (becoming more accepting of violence in real life and less caring about other people's feelings), or increased fear of becoming a victim of violence (Smith and Donnerstein 167-202).12 [2] Television can be a powerful influence in developing value systems and shaping behavior. Unfortunately, much of today's television programming is violent. Children and adolescent concur some of the negative moral influences through TV such as media violence, portrayals of sexual exploitation and attitudes, vulgarity and rudeness, intense and disturbing imagery, passive watching - the "couch potato" syndrome, alcoholism, drug abuse, and other kinds of disturbing activities. For example, the average American child will witness 200,000 violent acts on television by age 18 (Dowshen and Gavin n. pag 2005). These may lead to serious psychological problems. Too much of TV means that children not exercising, reading, socializing, or spending time outside. Children, who view violent events, are also more likely to believe that the world is scary and that something bad will happen to them. These could have serious negative influence on the growth and development of the child. A review of scientific literature on media violence provides ample evidences that the connection of media violence to real-life aggressive behavior and violence has been largely exposed (Donnerstein and Linz 271-284). Estimates suggest that as much as 10% to 20% of real-life violence may be a duplication of media violence (Comstock and Strasburger 495-509). National Television Violence Study presented the following after a three years study: nearly two thirds of all programming contains violence; children's shows contain the most violence; portrayals of violence are usually glamorized; and perpetrators often go unpunished (Federman 1998). Violence on television can influence people to commit crimes. There is an increase of juvenile crimes in the world. While television violence is not the only cause of aggressive or violent behavior, researchers believe that it is clearly a significant factor. It is important

Production and Operational Management in the auto Industry Term Paper - 1

Production and Operational Management in the auto Industry (Forecasting, Quality, Quantity, Profits, Assembly) - Term Paper Example They even had a great deal of say in the political sector of USA. Their political power was due to a fact that had been narrated by the CBC News article in the following words: â€Å"The L.A. Times recently calculated that since 1990, the auto industry as a whole has donated $100 million US to Republicans and $34 million to Democrats.† From the year 1951 to the year 2007 Ford had been ranked third in all the automotive manufacturers of the world. After maintaining this position for fifty six years the company lost its position worldwide. It, however, still remained at third position in the US auto industry. The recent times have however depicted a recession of Ford and GM in their native country’s automobile industry. This recession has given space to foreign automobile manufacturers to establish their position by introducing their models in the industry. Currently these foreign automotive industrialists are leading the industry. BACKGROUND OF THE PROBLEM. Ford and GM w ere the largest vehicle producing giants in USA once. They assisted their country’s economy massively by producing generous revenue and benefit packages for labor. Ford and GM held their importance in the US automobile industry not only because of their size but also because of their business volume. Their loosing of their stature, however, was owing to a number of reasons. Those reasons can be summarized as follows: This meant that a major number of operations in them were distributed into unions or rather termed as being â€Å"Unionized†. This led to a rising labor cost that incurred to these industrial giants. The labor costs of their international emerging counterparts were however very less as they did not practice unionization. Even the counterparts that had their manufacturing units in the US did not face the said problem. (Van Praet, 2008). WHY THE RECESSION? A number of issues led to the downfall of Ford and GM along with other US automobile manufacturers. Qua lity Compromised Among various issues was that of the maintenance of Quality by these giants. Stephen Robbins (2009) mentions their carelessness and compromise in the maintenance of their products in his book ‘Management’ in the following words: â€Å"U.S. car industry is often used as a classic example of what can go wrong when managers focus solely on trying to keep costs down. In the late 1970s, GM, Ford, and Chrysler built products that many consumers rejected...... When the costs of rejects, repairing shoddy work, product recalls, and expensive controls to identify quality problems were considered, U.S. manufacturers actually were less productive than many foreign competitors. The Japanese demonstrated that it was possible for the highest-quality manufacturers to be among the lowest-cost producers. American manufacturers in the car and other industries soon realized the importance of TQM and implemented many of its basic components.† (Robbins, 2009) The abov e statement clearly highlights how the erroneous strategy of leading automobile manufacturing giants of USA gave room to their foreign counterparts. Even though they learned their lesson and tried to improve on their mistakes but it was too late then. The market shares that they once lost were not repairable. So was the inclusion of these counterparts in the industry. Retailers knew they had equally better options to go for and that too often at lesser costs. Product SUV’

Mecican-American Culture in the Inland Empire Essay Example for Free

Mecican-American Culture in the Inland Empire Essay The area of California known as the Inland Empire, is comprised of Riverside, Ontario, and San Bernadino Counties, and is home to one of the largest, most concentrated populations of Mexican-Americans in the United States. As a result, the area has its own culture, its own style of music, dancing, art, and celebration. Ultimately, the culture of the Inland Empire is an American translation of cultural traditions that immigrants brought with them from Mexico, and they have created a world all their own. Life for Mexican immigrants to the United States, however, is not always easy. As a result, this is a high-risk population for mental illness and substance abuse. Certainly, the Inland Empire provides plenty of opportunities for the culturally aware social worker to provide help and services. According to a 2012 business report, fourteen cities in the Inland Empire have a majority Latino population. 2-million of the 4. 7 million residents in the area, are in fact Latino, suggesting a trend of growing Latino populations all over the United States (Gruszecki, 2012). The Inland Empire has a rich arts and culture landscape, with a strong emphasis on Mexican, and Mexican-American heritage. In a 2008 investigation into cultural engagement in southern California, the James Irving Foundation found that Hispanic populations in the Inland Empire tended to â€Å"practice traditions that represent their cultural heritage at higher than average rates and engage in community events that celebrate their heritage much more often than Whites,† (Brown et al, 9). The study surveyed thousands of people across the Inland Empire, and found that many Mexican-Americans in the area still celebrate many of the same holidays as their Mexican Ancestors, including Navidad, Virgin of Guadaloupe Day (Dec.12), Posadas, Cinco de Mayo, and Dia de Los Muertos (Brown et al, 74). Alamillo suggests that celebrating these holidays once in America may have been a way for the immigrants of the mid-twentieth century to â€Å"further the interests of the ethnic Mexican community† in the area, and the practice stuck (Alamillo, 57). He argues that â€Å"Mexican Americans used Cinco de Mayo festivals not only to promote ethnic solidarity, but as a tool of political opposition, (Alamillo, 59). Mexican culture is also notices in the types of stories that respondents to the James Irving Foundation survey reported that they’d brought with them to their new homes in the Inland Empire. These included many stories representing the strong family values of Mexican culture. Stories passed down from family, with family values, and those in traditional language were all among those types of stories that the study cites. Similarly, mariachi music followed Mexican immigrants to the US, as did making pinatas, dream catchers, and altars, as well as Flamenco and Pueblo dancing, (Brown et al, 77). One of the major problems among Mexican Americans, however, is often overlooked. It is thought that mental illness is more prevalent in Latino communities in the US than in white, non-Hispanic, or African American communities. According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, Latino girls are one and a half times more likely than white or black teens to attempt suicide, and Mexican-American immigrants to the US are at a higher risk for mental disorders and substance abuse than their counterparts living in Mexico (NAMI, 2002). However, due to the stigma associated with mental illness in Latino communities, many suffering from mental illness do not seek out treatment. Those who do seek out treatment are often more likely to see a general practitioner or clergy than a mental health professional or social worker (NAMI, 2002). There is also a stigma against homosexuality in Mexican-American communities, which may contribute to the high risk of mental illness, substance abuse and suicide among homosexual immigrants. Many studies have shown that â€Å"homosexuality is stigmatized among U. S. residents of Mexican descent and, more generally, in Latino communities in the United States,† while only a couple have found Mexican attitudes towards homosexuality to be on par with those in black and white communities (Herek and Gonzalez-Rivera, 1). It is likely that the same reverence for family that influences the beliefs of many Mexican Americans, also influences their attitudes towards homosexual behavior, ultimately leading to the alienation of Mexican-American homosexuals. The Psychological Counseling Center of California State University at San Bernadino runs a website listing places to turn for help in the Inland Empire: http://psychcounseling. csusb . edu/referrals. html. For many Mexican Americans, the Catholic Charities may be a good option as they offer a fait-based approach to dealing with mental health issues. There are many options available to residents of the Inland Empire to get help right in their community. Mexican culture has a deep and rich tradition in the United States, especially in the Inland Empire. Immigrants celebrate their Mexican heritage as a way of holding on to the history, people and place from which they’ve come. Along with these rich traditions however, come opportunities for receiving help. Often when it comes to societal issues such as mental illness and substance abuse, communities will need the help of a social worker who understands their culture and can meet their diverse needs. Reforming Public Education Visual Outline

Reforming Public Education in America Visual Outline Corrie Broughton Western Governors University WGU Student ID # 000235996 Reforming Public Education in America 1. The world around American school children is changing, but the public school system is failing to keep up with all the changes. Many programs that are in place were great 50+ years ago but now true reform is needed. A. The United States used to have the highest standards in the world for education. B. With so many budget cuts, the education of American children is suffering. There is little money for updated textbooks, new technology, and even to updated buildings. Many teachers reach into their own pockets to supply their classrooms even with the basics of paper and pencils. C. Taxes should be paying for world-class education in America, but the government is not using those dollars wisely. School district boards are in complete charge of how the money is distributed to each school. Not all schools will receive the same amount, some will get more and some will get less. 2. The public education system needs change. Children are getting further and further behind in math and science when compared to other countries. The No Child Left Behind law has some good goals but those goals are hard to achieve because the standards are set too high. It’s hard to judge what the standards are because each state has their own test for student achievement. A. Very little money for schools means no new textbooks or technology available to students. Cut backs also mean no counselors or school nurses on campus. Additionally, school buildings do not get much-needed repairs. B. Student/teacher ratios are too high. Teachers cannot give individual attention to students, and students struggle with keeping up with the curriculum.Poor performing teachers make the same amount of money as a good teacher. Tenure and the teacher’s union protect all teachers from any form of discipline. C. U. S. schools have failed to keep up with other countries in education. The common factor with all of the countries that have students achieving their standards is all students use the same curriculum and there is not a No Child Left Behind Law. The United States has the shortest school year and fewest amount of hours children spend in the classroom. 3. Research suggests that the U. S. ducation system could benefit from reform because there is very little money for schools; there are over-crowded classrooms with tenured teachers who are protected by the unions and other countries are surpassing America’s once great education system by leaps and bounds. Lady Macbeths Transformation into a Guilt Ridden Woman in...

From murder to greed Macbeth portrays a story of how a human’s flaws can be elevated to a point where they are no longer flaws but a person’s way of thinking and acting. A lot of the characters evolve from doing what they think is right to doing what their heart desires. Throughout the play, Lady Macbeth changes from an evil mastermind to a guilt ridden woman because Shakespeare shows how a person’s actions affect their personality by having selfish desires turn into a person only driven by power and ambition. In the beginning of the play, Lady Macbeth is the one who is driving Macbeth to kill Duncan. Although she could not bring herself to kill Duncan, Shakespeare made it obvious that she wanted to but didn’t have the power. â€Å"Unsex me†¦show more content†¦She holds Macbeth together when the guilt gets to him and explains to him to shake it off and that he’s done nothing wrong. As ambition starts to take over Macbeth, Lady Macbeth begins to lose power and is not included in the plans to kill Banquo. â€Å"Be innocent of knowledge dearest chuck† (III. ii. 47). Lady Macbeth begins to lose her control of Macbeth; she has no more power nor say in what should be done. This lack of power opens a spot for vulnerability by taking away the one thing that makes her feel useful. Macbeth then begins to share a little of his plan of Banquo’s murder without telling her exactly what he’s doing.â€Å"Thou marvel’st at my words: but hold thee still ./ Things bad begun make strong themselves ill† (III.ii. 56-57). Lady Macbeth is shocked at the words of her husband, as he elusively shows her a glimpse of his plan. Once guilt begins to overtake Lady Macbeth, she looses control of her emotions and actions, sending her onto the fast track to death. In a way, Shakespeare has Macbeth and Lady Macbeth change roles. In the beginning it seems as if Macbeth is more emotionally affected by the killing of Duncan. However, once Banquo is killed Macbeth is perfectly fine with it, and Lady Macbeth becomes vulnerable and lets the guilt overrule her. She begins to repeatedly pretend to was her hands and sleep walk. â€Å"Here’s the smell of blood still. The willing accomplice, the ruthless mastermind – indeed, her standard depiction as a conniving woman grasping for power in a man’s world has endured throughout the y ears. But who is to say that a depiction is immune to change? Most will generally see the Scotswoman as a typical one-dimensional villain, but in actuality, she was a strong woman able to overcome the limitations of her gender in
